PRAYER FOR FAMILIES (Unison)
Creator God, we give You thanks this day for our families. We know that there
are many different kinds of families. We ask Your blessing on our loved ones.
Grant us grace to live together with respect for one another. Help us to honor
each other’s uniqueness. We pray for partners and spouses, that they may
receive
the gifts of love, empathy, joy
and delight with each other. We pray for children, who are a great gift to all
of us. Bless our homes with love. Help us find special joy in our family
relationships and with one another. We pray for those who are
estranged or have no families. Walk with us this week, O God, and help us to
help
each other. In Christ’s name. Amen.

MUMC Welcomes New Members
May 13, 2001
Patrick Haub: Patrick grew up in
Roseville and attended Mounds View High School. He then graduated from St.
Thomas and became a salesman for a freight forwarding organization. His job took
him to Chicago and South Bend Indiana. He left this position just two weeks ago
and is now working in the insurance industry. Patrick’s hobbies include golf,
fishing, sports, traveling and camping. He and Susan met while on a ski trip in
Colorado after college.
Susan Haub: Susan lived in
Minnetonka until junior high when her family moved. She graduated from Waconia
High School and St. Cloud State University. She has been in the insurance
industry for several years and is now an agent for State Farm. They moved back
from Indiana two years ago. Susan is now taking time off until June 1st
to be home with their 7½-week-old baby, Henry Patrick. She enjoys antiques,
reading, traveling, cooking and camping. The Haubs began attending this church
because Susan’s parents, Dave and Dorothy Gustafson were founding members, and
Susan was confirmed at MUMC.
The Patrick and Susan’s sponsors
are Karn and Jay Juusola.
Carla Studer: Carla lived in
Hopkins until 8th grade and graduated from Norwood Young America
where her family moved. She attended the University of Minnesota where she
obtained her bachelor’s degree in business and where she and Tom met. She
worked at Rosemount, Inc. for 15 years and then made a decision to stay at home
with their two girls, Sara, 11, a 5th grader at Groveland School, and
Laura, 8, a 2nd grader. Carla’s hobbies include camping, biking,
skiing, swimming, anything outdoors.
Tom Studer: Tom graduated from
St. Louis Park High School and the University of Minnesota with a business
degree. He worked in public accounting as a CPA. Eight years ago he joined
LeJeune Investment, Inc. as the VP of Finance. He enjoys outdoor activities as
well, especially golf. He and Carla have been married 18 years.
They decided on MUMC as a church home
because they felt comfortable and welcome here, and also like the church
service.
The Tom and Carla’s sponsors are
Virginia Bell and Steve Tornio.

ADULT STUDIES
FAITHLINK TODAY!
Today we will discuss what it means to be a United Methodist in a post
denominational world. In the last ten years there has been a significant growth
in the number of individuals that belong to independent congregations that are
not affiliated with any particular denominations. FaithLink is an open forum for
the discussion of issues of current interest and how we can connect our faith to
our everyday lives. There is no study or preparation needed. Every Sunday the
topic is posted on a “white board” near the entrance to Fellowship Hall.
EXERCISE CLASS:
Classes will be Tuesday & Thursday mornings for one hour starting at 9:15.m.
Wear clothes to exercise in and shoes with good support. Bring water to drink,
mats for the floor, a set of hand weights (3-8 lb.) and resistant bands. Call
Julie Courtney at home 952-401-8619 or at work 952-934-0931 for more
information. Come and refuel your spirit.
